POSITION SUMMARY
This position manages the organization's tax policies & objectives, oversees partnership tax filings and requires a familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. The ideal candidate relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and will lead and direct the work of others.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the jobís overall responsibilities) 

  • Manage LLC tax structure and all associated member distributions.
  • Coordinate the preparation of Federal and state income and franchise tax returns tax returns, including corporate tax returns and pass-through returns, along with associated member reporting.,
  • Preparing financial statement provisions pursuant to APB, FASB, and applicable SEC pronouncements.
  • Ensure company is compliant in Sales & Use, property and other non-income tax areas.
  • Coordinate and assist in handling Federal and state tax audits.
  • Evaluate current company structure for tax efficiency/planning opportunities to reduce cash taxes and simplify tax compliance.
  • Supporting the company with sound tax research, planning, and advice on major issues and disputes.
  • Evaluating and recommending improvements to tax processes and controls, along with interacting with the company's independent auditors, manage outside tax consultant relationships.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, local, or international tax laws.
  • Manage the retention and preparation of tax records, tax returns, and other required reports.
  • Assess the impact of the organization's tax liability and oversee tax accounting staff.
  • Providing tax expertise in the areas of acquisitions, reorganizations, and consolidated returns.
  • Special projects as assigned.


JOB SCOPE:

Operates within general parameters, but must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. Has the ability to influence and recommend accounting policies and procedures. The incumbent and staff are held accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of the work performance.  


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This role has 1-2 direct reports.


INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

Daily interactions with Company senior managers and officers in one-on-one and group settings focused on problem solving, planning and decision making. Daily in-person, phone and email interactions with outside service providers and partners, including auditors, consultants, and tax advisors.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Experience in federal and multi-state tax compliance, IRS representation and tax planning/research.
  • Partnership experience is required.
  • Experience in Sales & Use tax, property tax and other business taxes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a high level of initiative; excellent analytical, and communication skills; the ability to interact with senior management levels and work in a fast-paced environment; strong math skills; problem analysis and problem resolution skills; and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Must be able to take projects and manage to completion. Negotiation and presentation skills also required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, strong business acumen and technical expertise in all areas of tax.
  • Ability to work as a team player.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelorís degree in accounting or related field from a fully accredited college or university is required.

Minimum 8 years of tax experience, with increased responsibilities leading into a manger/lead tax role at a standalone company that exceeds $250 million in revenue. 3-5 years of Big 4 public accounting tax experience is preferred. Public company experience is a plus.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CPA required. MS in Taxation preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
The physical demands for this position are light to moderate. The position requires sitting and use of hands/arms for extended periods of time using a variety of computer programs, electronic communication tools and related office equipment to accomplish work tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:     
The work environment for this job is primarily office-oriented with open shared office spaces and constant interruptions; some travel within in a heavy industrial environment when performing certain administrative functions.
