POSITION SUMMARY:
The Industrial Security Specialist will be a member of an expanding security team with responsibility for security operations of one or more classified programs. Responsible for all aspects of security to include personnel, physical, technical, and classification management, utilizing the requirements set forth in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), applicable DoD Manuals and other program directives as applicable. The Industrial Security Specialist will assist in the development and administration of security procedures for classified or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment in support of fast-paced programs.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Must live the Vigor Values every day
  •  Responsible for assisting in daily security operations and NISP/NISPOM compliance
  •  Assists the Security Manager with the creation of local security policies and disseminates customer driven security directives to teammates and program personnel
  •  Maintains the fundamental security requirements defined by the customer/company and program
  •  Identifies deficiencies, develops and implements corrective actions
  •  Process initial and periodic security clearances and reinvestigations in JPAS and e-QIP  
  •  Interprets DoD and local security policies and provides guidance to employees as needed
  •  Works closely with the Security Manager to enforce visitor control protocols and manage badge access control systems
  •  Assists the Security Manager with derivative classification reviews and document control inventories  
  •  Assists in the implementation of an active Security Awareness and Education Program
  •  Conducts initial and refresher program security briefings to new and existing employees
  •  Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  •  Protects government, intellectual, third party and company information from unauthorized disclosures

JOB SCOPE
The Industrial Security Specialist operates under supervision of the Security Manager. The individual is responsible for assisting in daily security operations and NISP/NISPOM compliance. The Industrial Security Specialist assists in the development and administration of security procedures for classified or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment in support of fast-paced programs.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:   None

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:   
The individual communicate both verbally and written with program team members and leadership and external customers. He/she provides regular verbal and written status reports to manager, program team members, internal and external customers.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  •  Ability to problem solve, multi-task, prioritize duties and assignments, and monitor all aspects of a security program including personnel security, physical security, information security PII protection & administrative security procedures
  •  Knowledge of proper handling of Sensitive Security Information (SSI), Personal Identifiable Information (PII), Proprietary, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and For Official Use Only (FOUO) documents, materials and equipment
  •  Knowledge of DoD 5220.22-M, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual
  •  Knowledge of DoD 5200.01-R, Information Security Program
  •  Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office, Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), and eQIP
  •  Excellent written communication, report writing, and presentation skills
  •  Possess excellent interpersonal skills to include working with customers, employees, management, and security personnel   
  •  Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  •  Ability to multi-task to accommodate deadlines  

 REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Experience dealing directly with government customers
  •  Be a U.S. Citizen
  •  Active DoD Secret Clearance required (investigation within the last 10 years)  

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
HS Diploma required; Bachelor's degree (preferred)
Minimum 5 years of Industrial Security experience 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

FSO Program Management Certification (preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in an industrial environment. The individual may be required to be in production areas within the complex. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas and tanks; to work at heights.   The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist   and may be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Good finger, hand and wrist dexterity required for extensive computer operations. The person must have good hand-eye coordination and may spend extended time sitting in front of a computer terminal. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 5% of the time with notice.
