For tugs and barges to transoceanic ships and more, we fix, overhaul and modernize single vessels and major global fleets. Vigor Marine. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
o    Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
o    Consistently exceeds Journey Level standards.
o    Installs new and/or affects repairs to ships structure, foundations, structural closures and outfitting items
o    Cuts, bevels and flushes steel with a Gas/Oxy burning torch
o     Prepares surfaces by grinding and chipping
o    Comprehends and understands marine architectural blueprints.  Must be able to determine information to fabricate, erect and install ships structures, foundations, structural closures and outfitting items from blueprint.
o    Tack welds steel and/or aluminum components

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
    Maintains a clean and orderly work area

ESSENTIAL MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
1.    Interaction/communication with others: Frequently- Interacts with others to ensure ongoing safety of operation. May work with several individuals in a confined space.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB TASKS:
Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, overhead reaching, all direction reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending, crouching, squatting, simple grasping, crawling,  and fine manipulation.

3.    Wet or humid:    Varies with weather, depending on assignment area
4.    Noise level comparison:    Moderate to high; ear protection required
5.    Vibration:    Occasionally when working with power tools
6.    Fumes, odors, gases, etc.:    Frequent to Continuous; must wear respirator
7.    Ventilation:    Generally poor especially in confined areas
8.    Lighting:    Adequate

MINIMUM TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED preferred. 5-10 years relevant work experience. Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.

Journey Level 1 Ship Repair
Some knowledge of several skills with more advanced knowledge of 1 primary skill and possess at least 1 certification (hours in skilled trade & demonstrated proficiency).  Requires general supervision during performance of primary skill, but is able to perform job duties of A-1 through A-3 with little or no supervision.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
The physical requirements will vary from day to day, assignment to assignment.  
Must be able to follow supervisory instructions.
