Job Title:      Assembly/Millwright Machinist                             

Department: Production               

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly                    

Reports To: Foreman or assigned supervisor 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Working in a team environment, Vigor Complex Fab is the leading provider of Complex fabrication and assemblies in the Pacific Northwest.

                                                                                                      

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Work on a team helping assemble, disassemble, and test small to very large fabricated assemblies, assist machinery maintenance workers as well as industrial machinery mechanics as needed to help make sure the plant and all machines operate efficiency.  
  •  Clean up at the end of shift to make sure your job site remains well-organized, free of unnecessary clutter.  
  •  Take steps to ensure every job is done in a manner thatís safe and completed according to the latest workplace safety regulations, laws and requirements. Mechanical aptitude is essential. 
  •  Will read blueprints and other technical documents to dismantle and assemble equipment.  
  •  Help develop plans and sequencing for assemblies.

  • None

 

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Mechanical Skills

  •  Use a variety of hand tools and measuring tools including micrometers to disassemble and reassemble and test large assemblies. For example; Ice Breaker Boat Propellers, Wheel Gates for Hydro projects, cranes for paint hangers.  
  •  You will lift heavy objects, physically manipulate objects with tools as needed Utilizing cranes and other equipment to complete large-scale projects in your daily job duties.  
  •  Ability to run manual machine tools is a plus. Need to be able to do this safely using the correct equipment to avoid injury to self and others.  

 

Technical Skills:

  •  Be able to work in a team environment or independently as need.
  •  Understand machined fits and be able to use measuring equipment to verify sizes of parts prior to assembly.
  •  Understanding bearings installation and adjustment along with some hydraulic and electrical experience is a plus. 
  •  Able to communicate clearly Witten and oral.
  •  Willing to work in all environments as needed.
  •  Troubleshooting Skills are required defined by ability to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue. 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years minimum experience

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • None required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The physical demands for this position require continual standing, walking and using fine motor skills for the operation of tools and machinery. 
  • Ability to lift, carry 60Lbs. May require some lifting or assistance with heavy equipment. Occasionally requires t twisting, turning, bending, climbing, and walking over uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • The work is performed inside a shop in which machines are continually running generating varying degrees of noise.
  • Work may involve use of chemicals, coolants, greases, solvents, petroleum and vapors and fumes.
  • Proper PPE will be provided as necessary.
