POSITION SUMMARY:
Position requires high level of technical cyber security knowledge, strong communication skills, and in-depth understanding of systems integration work. This position integrates technology protection into the Systems Engineering process. It prevents or delays exploitation of Critical Program Information (CPI) in U.S. defense systems and may include Anti-Tamper (AT) activities. It supports the development of programs and design-to-specifications providing life-cycle protection for critical defense resources. This position requires interactions with Federal Government’s Systems Security Engineers (SSEs) to identify and track Critical Program Information (CPI) and Critical Technology (CT) supporting DoD programs. Working knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) required. Close working relations with both internal and external stakeholders will be a large action for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement cyber security strategies in accordance with contract requirements in the areas of computer software development, computer software assurance, hardware validation, supply chain risk management, architecture and configuration testing, vulnerability management, patch management, release management, and configuration management;
  2. Validate cyber security strategy and system cyber security posture;
  3. Analyze system security requirements derived from contract requirements;
  4. Design system and security architectures;
  5. Develop security test strategies;
  6. Develop reports outlining the system risk for proposed architectures in accordance with System Security Design and Risk Assessment plans;
  7. Provide guidance and oversight of work performed by supply chain as relates to system and cyber security;
  8. Co-chair and participate in Program Protection Work Groups (PPWG) and technical review groups;
  9. Provide required Information Assurance (IA) and cyber assessment information to internal and external parties;
  10. Communicate relevant and timely information and coordinate actions with internal personnel.

JOB SCOPE:
This position will be required to understand contract requirements, make recommendations, and accomplish technical solution implementation as well as to oversee supply chain performance as relates to cyber security contractual obligations. Sound judgment is critical in this position. Impact of recommendations and work is significant to program success and to ensuring DoD systems and data are properly secured. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:   None, however incumbent will be asked to lead cyber security working groups comprised of internal personnel, customer technical personnel, and supply chain technical personnel.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
The incumbent communicates regularly in both verbal and written form with all levels of the company. Of particular importance in this position is regular interaction and maintenance of good working relationships with company customers and supply chain technical representatives.

 KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  •  Possess sound knowledge of requirements and methods to meet requirements delineated in the NIST 800-171 and DoD 5200.01 series of publications;
  •  Proficient in the identification, derivation, analysis, implementation, testing, deployment and management of cybersecurity requirements for classified information systems;
  •  Knowledge of prevalent IT cyber security methodologies, management practices, architectures, system development lifecycles and best practices to prevent damage to, protection, and restore computers systems and electronic communications systems, including information contained therein, to ensure its availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and nonrepudiation. 
  •  Able to work independently without close supervision and exercises independent judgment and discretion;
  •  Must be a well-organized, detail and customer (internal) oriented self-starter;  
  •  Must be able to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time sensitive projects and must be able to reprioritize effectively as business needs change;
  • Ability to efficiently schedule, direct and organize work and coordinate work with other departments;
  • Ability to effectively lead cross-functional working teams.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  •  Minimally requires Bachelor‘s degree in Electrical, IT, or Computer Engineering and four years relevant work experience, or comparable relevant work experience
  •  Must maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: 

  •  Minimally requires Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
  •  Active Security Clearance is preferred, ability to obtain is required 
  •  Additional applicable discipline certifications from DoD Approved 8570 Approved Baseline Certifications preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:   Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting. The individual may be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work.

There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 30% of the time with notice. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
