Robotic Welding Operator

Department: Welder
Location: Clackamas, OR

Vigor Works is recruiting for Robotic Welding Operators to join our team. Positions open on both day and swing shifts and will be located at both our Clackamas and Portland locations.


POSITION SUMMARY: Operates conventional Robotic Weld Cell to fabricate metallic parts or assemblies, applying basic knowledge of welding theory and procedures, and basic mathematics.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with Arc Welding, to include GMAW/FCAW is preferred
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Experience utilizing computer based software is preferred
  • Must be willing to work in a high pace industrial environment 
  • Previous experience with robotic welding is preferred
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work in a team environment

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on welding machines or worktable as required.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machine factors, such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, type of gas, and type of weld rod.
Operates and observes robot to detect malfunctions or non-conforming conditions.
Operates welding robot on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, and hand tools.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Visually inspects to maintain quality records with minimum supervision.
Maintains accurate counts of parts; attaches labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity, and shop order information. 
Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate job activities.
Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
Cleans equipment, tooling and area around workstation on a daily basis.
Read documents, blueprints, computer screens and machine dials. 
Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing education or work experience.
