Driver

Department: Warehouse

POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • Operate trucks for pickup and delivery of materials and products. Assist the shipping department in loading/unloading of materials and products using forklifts, cranes, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Operate company vehicles for transporting materials and products.
  • Must hold Class A commercial driverís license.
  • Load/unload materials and finished products using forklifts, cranes, dolly cars, etc.
  • Transport materials into fabrication area(s) as required.
  • Responsible for load management and the safe operation of vehicles, while transporting materials and products. The driver has final authority and responsibility for the load on their vehicle.
  • Experience in heavy flatbed haul is required

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

  • Ability to follow  written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules and regulations, and possible hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
  • Capable of  instructing and directing crew(s).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must currently hold, or able to obtain Class A permit. 
  • Fully conversant with structural shapes, sizes, grades, weights, bills of material, etc.
  • Full knowledge in loading and unloading of trucks, barges, and railcars.
  • Maintain safe and efficient work methods, know the capacity and limitation of all hoisting equipment, clamps, and slings.
  • Heavy Haul Experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Class ďAĒ CDL required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift, carry, or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
  • Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. Proper protective equipment will be provided as necessary. While in production areas, exposed to all types of weather conditions, noise, dusts and odors.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
