Job Title: QC Inspector / CWI

POSITION SUMMARY: Opportunity to earn up to $30/hr. dependent upon skill and ability. Excellent benefits, 401k, and growth opportunity. Vigor is currently recruiting for a Certified Welding Inspector to join our team for a day or swing shift position at our Clackamas, Vancouver, and Swan Island facility. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Experience working with one or more of the following Standards. American Welding Society (AWS) codes D1.1, D1.5, D1.2, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Corp of Engineers codes Section VIII and V.  
  • Experience with dimensional inspection.
  • Experience conducting and witnessing welding procedure qualification and welder qualifications.
  • Past experience as American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II in one or more of the following disciplines: Desired
    • Ultrasonic Testing /Shear wave
    • Magnetic Particle Testing / Yoke method
    • Dye Penetrant Testing
    • Radiographic Testing (optional)
    • Radiographic film interpretation (optional)
  • Ability to work independently to established procedures
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • 1-5 years’ experience in Quality Control. 
  • The ability to pass a background investigation.
  • Active participant in continuous improvement efforts that further the company values, constancy and efficiency of people and process within the Division.
    • Knowledge of material specifications (ASTM & ASME), is preferred
    • Knowledge of welding specifications (AWS & ASME), is preferred
    • Knowledge of destructive and nondestructive examinations is preferred.
    • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
    • Experience in a fabrication environment, preferably job-shop or general contract companies.

Physical Demands: 

  • Physical demands of position will require the ability to maneuver in a shop or yard assembly environment. Extensive walking and standing, climbing on ladders, scaffolding, couching, twisting, and stooping are often encountered. Must be able to assist with the manipulation of tooling and equipment.
  • The work environment can be physically demanding as well as in the proximity of moving equipment and cranes. Constant awareness of peripheral activity is necessary, with a mindfulness of not only personal safety, but the safety of people in the vicinity, and product and shop equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
