Job Title: Water Jet / Burn table operator, Pre-Fab                             

Department: Production               

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • Operates programmable Burning Machines, including CNC and waterjet table. Process plate material to customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Responsible for operation, simple maintenance and care of, programmable burning machines including CNC and OMAX waterjet  table.
  • Read and understand bills of material, cutting assignments, sketches, etc., with limited instructions from supervisor.
  • Lay-out, cut to correct size, select the proper materials from stock, and be efficient and economical. Keep accurate record of material cuts.
  • Perform other tasks within personal skill and ability within the prefab dept. as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • None

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

  • Ability to establish and  maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, regarding daily functions, safety rules and  regulations, and possible hazardous conditions.
  • Ability to give instruction to others assigned to assist on projects.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and sketches and transferring this information for layout work on the plate to be      burned. Ability to learn and read and understand CNC codes.
  • Hold functional knowledge of types, sizes, and grades of material and capable of maintaining material inventory and good record keeping.
  • Capable of climbing up to water table and up ladder to plate racks.
  • Full knowledge of safety precautions, gas pressures, burning tips, etc., related to material thickness and applications.
  • Capable of crane operations and rigging of plate and structural steel.
  • Strong math capabilities including calculating material weights.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Min. 2 Yrs. Experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • N/A

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift, carry 60Lbs., or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
  • Capable of working from ladders and scaffolding.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. Proper protective equipment will be provided as necessary.
