As the commercial repair and modernization subsidiary of Vigor Industrial, Vigor Marine brings together eight drydocks, more than 15,000 feet of pier space and tens of thousands of square feet of superior indoor facilities to serve the full scope of vessels of nearly any size. Our multiple facilities and ready-to-work, ready-to-deploy skilled teams mean we make repairs and upgrades with minimum vessel-out-of-service time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Successfully performs work a an individual, as a member of a single craft, or a multi-craft work crew.

 
1.      Complies with craft and shipyard safety measures.
2.      Consistently exceeds Journeyman criteria.
3.      Responsible for assembling staging as directed.
4.      Responsible for all phases of scaffolding, shoring, and stair tower building.
5.      Works from ship specifications, work orders and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
6.      Researches and suggests written comprehensive condition found reports (CFRs).
7.      Responsible for being conversant in all quality assurance requirements.
8.      Responsible for installation of various types of insulation.
9.      Reads blueprints and performs layout work.
10.  Performs joiner work and installs marine panels, ceiling systems, doors, and jams.
 
ESSENTIAL SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Incumbent performs similar work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.
 
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND/OR KNOWLEDGE
1.      Communicates effectively, work independently or in a group.
2.      Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
3.      Working knowledge of the following processes:
           Fiberglass repair procedures
           Building pudding blocks
           Putting up blast protection
           Installation and repair of furniture and fixtures
 
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED preferred. 5 years relevant work experience. Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.

Journey Level Support
Demonstrated proficiency in 1 of the support groupings and knowledge of a core/main ship repair area (1 certification or equivalent) OR demonstrated proficiency of 2 support services areas. Requires some supervision to perform more complex jobs/tasks, but is able to perform majority of job duties independently, with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Four-hour fire watch certification, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
HAZWOPER First Responder Awareness Level.

ESSENTIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
1.      Works indoors, Frequently -- works indoors, inside ship.
2.      Works outdoors, Frequently -- works outdoors constructing scaffolding for other employees.
3.      Safety equipment required, Uses hard hat, eye protection, safety harness, hearing protection, respirator.
4.      Other Exposures, May be exposed to smoke, fumes, free silica, asbestos, dust, oil, grease, and heights.
5.      Operation of equipment/tools/vehicles, Table saw, band saw, planer, jointer, wood lathe, drill press, sanders, tape measure, overhead crane, fork lift, miscellaneous hand tools (hammer, screw driver, etc.).
6.      Required hygiene standards, Per company standards.
7.      Other, None.
