Machine Maintenance

MACHINE MAINTENANCE  

SUMMARY  

Responsible for plant-wide maintenance including preventative and repair. Responsible for the care and use of company tools, equipment and stocking spare parts for both emergency break-down and periodic repairs. With an emphasis on safety and machine productivity. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

Taking an “ownership” approach to develop an overall periodic maintenance schedule for each machine per manufacturer’s recommendations. This will be supported both by the machine shop and maintenance management teams to ensure all requirements are met. 

Service all equipment, including visual inspections and the drive towards periodic servicing according to manufacturer’s recommendations. To include but not be limited to the cleaning of machine coolers along with typical fluid and filter changes to ensure longevity of machine operation.

Dismantle, repair and reassemble equipment, install or relocate equipment, and test equipment and machines throughout the plant to assure proper functioning after repairs have been completed. The ability to communicate with machine operators to assist with testing if needed. 

Responsible for the coordination with machine shop supervision to schedule work to be done on the equipment along with marking or tagging faulty equipment, according to Lock-out/Tag-out program to avoid injury to other employees. 

Responsible for keeping sufficient spare parts on hand to ensure that equipment can be repaired as soon as breakdowns occur; document all major repairs on provided forms.

Responsible for building maintenance both interior and exterior repairs or improvements. 

REQUIREMENTS 

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, sketches and diagrams. 

Good manual dexterity to dismantle, repair and reassemble equipment. 

Capable of keeping work area clean and safe, and abide by all safety rules and regulations. 

Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, and regulations, and possible hazardous conditions. 

Ability to lift, carry, or maneuver objects, difficult objects will be lifted with the assistance of mechanical means or additional manpower. 

Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb. 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. 

May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions. Proper protective equipment will be provided as necessary. 

Experience in heavy industrial equipment including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical applications. Additional experience desired in working around CNC machines and the servicing of them. 

Ability to use both forklifts and aerial platforms as needed to complete assigned work.
