POSITION SUMMARY:
Shipping and Receiving of all materials related to ship repair and the shipyards. Monitor and record all material movements and change of custody. Deliver materials to various locations and vessels in the yard and at times out of the yard.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities) 

Employee will be required to work in Shipping/Receiving and also in the Stores Warehouse/Tool Room. Must be able to work all shifts as needed. Other duties may be assigned. Employee must be an energetic self-starter that successfully performs work as an individual and as a member of a team. Performs work with minimal supervision, has a sharp attention to detail and can work in an intense, fast paced work environment.

  1.  Safely Load and unload supplies to and from trucks, carts, pallets, and storage shelves.
  2. Distribute materials to specific craft, vessels, or area of shipyard where needed.
  3. Properly package, shrink-wrap, and band freight onto crates, pallets, and cartons for proper & safe shipping. 
  4. Following detailed instructions, ship materials and equipment in the most efficient, cost effective way.
  5. Safely stack materials on and off pallets and shelves.
  6. Ability to collect, review, and verify all shipping and receiving documentation for contractor furnished materials (CFM), government furnished materials (GFM), owner furnished materials (OFM), and subcontractor materials.
  7. Ability/knowledge to inspect shipment for damage.
  8. Ability to verify quantities and descriptions of materials on purchase order numbers and compare to packing lists for accuracy. 
  9. Ability to accurately enter receiving details into the database and correct inaccurate information already in there.
  10. Report and resolve discrepancies to and for all customers.
  11. Ability to follow designated processes for receiving, recording, handling and storage for all customers, subcontractors and differing projects. 
  12. Accurately and legibly complete various documents and forms as required by Vigor, its customers and various government entities.
  13. Work safely in a heavy industrial environment.  
  14. Ability to learn to Safely Operate & Inspect Forklifts up to 36 K capacity.

ESSENTIAL SECONDARY DUTIEES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbent performs work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.
Incumbent may be required to work at heights.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND/OR KNOWLEDGE:
Forklift Certification
High School graduate or GED equivalent
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Math skills
Computer skills
Basic Rigging Knowledge
Class B or better CDL a plus.
Qualifications to acquire a TWIC card.
 

Experience in working within military integrated logistics a plus.

Works indoors and outdoors: Frequently- Works indoors exposed to temperature variances, vibrations, humidity, chemicals, dust and noise.
Safety equipment required:
long pants, long/short sleeved shirt, eye protection, hearing protection, hard hat, and leather shoes.
Other Exposures: Smoke, acids, degreasing cleaners, fumes, free silica, asbestos, dust, weld flash, paints, solvents, oil and grease.
Operation of equipment/tools/vehicles: Uses grinders, hand/power tools, welding machines, hammer, wedges, cut-off, skill saw, complete range of hand-tool
s, banding tools, and pallet jacks.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Two years relevant work experience, preferably in marine area. Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
